9th September 2021. This session focused on communicable diseases and on the risks of morbidity and mortality in the absence of life course vaccination. Emphasis was placed on the gynaecological risks of HPV infection, paediatric infections and respiratory conditions.

14th September 2021. In this session, state of the art aspects on immunology and infectious diseases and the evolution of vaccinology development were  presented and discussed. An overview of development of vaccines was given. The importance of adjuvants and of vaccine administration technique were also addressed. The regulatory process in the evaluation and approval was discussed together with an emphasis on pharmacovigilance. An interesting insight on the third and booster doses of covid-19 vaccines was also given.

16th September 2021. This session consisted of presentations on and discussion of childhood and adolescent vaccination. The national immunisation schedule was presented and its raison d’etre explained. Special attention was given to consideration of paediatric pneumococcal, rotavirus, and varicella zoster vaccination.

23rd September 2021. This session addressed in depth adult and elderly vaccination. In this context presentations and discussion centred on the national seasonal influenza immunization campaigns, adult travel immunization, and the use of PCV 13 vaccine, and the new herpes zoster vaccine in adults over 50 yrs and the elderly.
